LUXURY ICONS

Vicuña, the Fiber of the Gods
The Colombo family’s most authentic values are reflected in a constant pursuit of excellence, expressed through some of the world’s most exclusive yarns and fabrics and a deep understanding of the fibers at their origin.
With an extraordinary fineness of just 12.5 microns, Vicuña is known as the Fiber of the Gods: one of the rarest and most precious fibers in the world, sourced from the remote highlands of the Andes. From the time of the Incas to the present day, it has preserved its unique natural color, ethereal softness and exceptional warmth with almost imperceptible weight, qualities that make it truly inimitable.
200 grams every two years
At over 4,000 metres above sea level, the vicuña lives in the extreme climate of the Andean highlands, where intense daytime heat gives way to freezing temperatures after sunset.
To withstand these extreme temperature variations, nature has endowed it with an exceptionally fine, warm and thermoregulating fleece. Each animal yields only around 200 grams of fibre every two years, an extraordinarily limited quantity that makes Vicuña one of the rarest and most precious fibres in the world.
